Hey everyone, I'm going to sell my ej6 (honda) and buy an mk4...only thing is, I don't know shit about VWs.

Which model of Golf MK4 has the best performance specs:

GTI
GTI VR6
GTI R32

I'm trying to find something reasonably priced...

Thanks everyone

the 24v vr6 is a great motor, and can generally be found at a reasonable price,

but if you want a golf youll never want to let go, save and strive for the r32.

you will NEVER regret it.

hey said reasonably priced, lol. That's NOT the R32.

Best bang for the buck, get the 1.8t.

has anyone ever driven/owned a GTI compared to a VR6?
FWD I wouldn't expect a v6 to be easy maintanence. (yes I know its technicslly AWD)

i have. the 3.2 handles awesome and shouldnt be considered a fwd lol.

the maintinence is a bit pricy, especially for the halidex awd system

you can get gti's with a vr6.

the 2.8 liter 24 valve gti was a great car.

the 1.8t is better on gas, but the vr6 has a better feel to it.

I would personally go with the R32, but it's not in the same price range as the others. Between the 1.8t and VR6 I would take the 1.8t, it's a great building block and it's easy to get power out of them for cheap. There is a 150 hp version of the 1.8t and a 180 hp version. I think they started putting the 180hp version in them in 2003. One thing I love about the 1.8t is the amount of torque.

i almost bought a r32 that had a cold air and exhaust but they sold it before got my down payment. it was a great car but now happy i didnt get it. i would recommend the 1.8t cause its much more reasonable and it doesn't take much to make them faster than r32s. you can get a decent 1.8t for under 10k vs an r32 15k for a cheap one. hovey motorcars has one for 25k

I would go with the r32 as well but their pretty pricey. If you get a gti go for the 20AE. I love mine!!

buy a 2.8l 24v vr6 gti, theyre more reliable and just as powerful as the 1.8t.

unless you can find the limited editions, such as the 20th anniversary, 337, or ANNIVERSARY gli (the other gli's are not the same thing)
